Cornbread (Karen Burbidge)

Combine: 1 c. corn meal, 1 c. flour, 2 T. sugar, 1 T. baking powder, 1 t. salt.

Cut in: 1/3 c. soft shortening. Beat together & add: 1 egg & 1 c. milk

Pour into well-buttered 8" square pan and bake @ 400° for 25 minutes or until done.

For sweeter corn bread add an additional 2 T. sugar.
