Yeast Doughnuts (Karen Burbidge)
2 c. warm water, 3 T. yeast, ½ c. oil, 3 beaten eggs, 1½ t. lemon extract, 2/3 c. sugar, 1 t. salt, 7½ c. flour, 1 t. baking powder, ½ t. cream of tartar Let rise in warm place for 45 minutes. Knead down & return to floured board. Roll ½" thick & cut with doughnut cutter. Heat oil to 375°. Fry quickly. Drain on paper towels. Cool slightly & frost. |
